2007 Boston Marathon
The 2007 Boston Marathon ran under wet conditions. The weather, in fact, was 58 degrees F. with blustery winds and torrential rains. The participants, organizers and media alike referred to the day as “Monsoon Monday.” In this 2007 Boston Marathon, the apparel included initial protection against the blustery weather. Nevertheless, at 9:35 a.m., the runners lined up at Hopkins to start the 2007 Boston Marathon course. At question was who would feature prominently in the results of the 2007 Boston Marathon.
Among the many men and women who formed the 2007 Boston Marathon participant list, more than 20,000 runners finished the race. The top men included the former champion, Robert Cheruyiot of Kenya. He, in spite of a serious head wound after the conclusion of the Chicago Marathon, finished first. Other 2007 Boston Marathon race results in the male category include second place James Kwambai and third place Stephen Kigora, also of Kenya. The female 2007 Boston Marathon winner was Lidiya Grigoryeva of Russia. She finished in 2:29: 18 claiming the $100,000 first price. Other 2007 Boston Marathon results include second place winner, Jelena Prokopcuka of Latvia and third place winner Madia Perez of Mexico. One of the disappointing 2007 Boston Marathon results was Deena Kastor’s fifth place finish. She hoped, as the number one female runner in the world, to regain the Boston Marathon for an American. No Maerican female has won the race since 1985 when Lisa Larsen-Weidenbach crossed the finish line first.
The Boston Marathon is a media favorite. In the early days, the 2007 Boston Marathon poster is noted. Later, events leading up to the event appear in the newspapers and on the television. In 2007, the Boston Marathon television schedule was, as usual, inclusive and enlightening. Elsewhere, 2007 Boston Marathon coverage included newspaper articles both descriptive and depictive. There were several instances of usage of 2007 Boston Marathon photos by the press. Runners can also see themselves as part of the overall race in another form. Runners can purchase a 2007 Boston Marathon video. This is possible due to multiple video cameras located at various locations on the route.
